The witch in the field

Personal illustration based on a photo I took during a trip to Norway. With this piece, I wanted to dive into Foliage as much as I could! Painting organic shapes is wonderful but also extremely challenging. I did some foliage studies before I started this illustration to make sure I had the rendering down or else it would be too daunting when I started the piece!

Some color thumbnails I tested based on reference :) I started using reversed reference pictures so I could really focus on the color tones instead of the picture elements.

I used a photo I took during a trip to Norway as reference for this piece, and here I'm preparing a value thumbnail that sets a strong base for the final illustration. It's a Mid-range value piece.
